Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The short version: your medications, schedules, history and health notes stay on your phone. Ringdose has no account, no sign-in, no server of its own, no analytics and no advertising. We never see what you take.

Ringdose ("the app") is developed by Almstedt Studio, Sweden ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is stored, what little leaves your phone and what rights you have. It applies to the Ringdose app for iPhone and Android and to this website.

1. Data the app handles

Everything below is entered by you and stored only on your device, in the app’s private storage:

  • Medications and supplements: name, strength and earlier strengths, form, colour and shape, notes, an optional photo, supply and refill warning levels, alarm and sound choices.
  • Schedules: times, amounts, days, intervals, cycles, days of the month, start and end dates, and pauses.
  • Dose history: when each dose was taken, skipped or missed, the amount, the strength in use when it was logged, an optional note, and where a dose was injected, a patch was placed or a gel was applied.
  • Profiles: the names you give profiles, for example “Mum”.
  • Symptoms and side effects: what you log, a 1–5 rating and an optional note, including symptom names you add yourself.
  • Doctor’s visits: date and time, the clinic name you type, your questions and your notes on what the doctor said.
  • Optional treatment modes (where available), only if you use them:
    • GLP-1: dose steps, weight entries and side effects.
    • HRT: patch sites, phases and a period log (first and last day, flow, note).
    • Testosterone gel: application sites and lab results you enter (test, value, unit, date, note).
    • Biologic medicines: injection sites, fridge reminders and the symptoms you choose to follow.
    • ADHD medication: when you noticed the effect and when it wore off.
  • Settings: appearance, time windows, follow-up time, privacy choices and similar preferences.

Much of this is health information. Ringdose processes it only on your device. We do not collect, receive or store it on any server. Ringdose never calculates doses, interprets lab results or predicts periods or fertility.

2. What we do not collect

  • No account, email address, name or phone number.
  • No location, contacts or advertising identifiers. Your region setting is read on the device to choose the right medicine list and language; it is not sent anywhere.
  • No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs.
  • No tracking across apps or websites.

The medicine lists in the app are built in. Ringdose does not look anything up online.

3. Reminders, alarms and the lock screen

Reminders, follow-up reminders and snoozes are scheduled on your device with the phone’s own notification system and, where available, with alarms (AlarmKit on iPhone, exact alarms on Android). Nothing is sent through a push service.

Reminder text can be seen on your lock screen by anyone holding your phone. To control this:

  • Turn on Hide medication names on the lock screen in Ringdose’s settings. All reminders, follow-ups and alarms then say only “Time for your medication”, and widgets on iPhone show “Your medication” instead of the name.
  • Each medication also has its own Hide the name on the lock screen switch.
  • Brand names of medicines in a treatment mode are never shown on the lock screen.
  • Visit reminders show only “Doctor’s visit” and the time. The fridge reminder says only that it is time to take your medicine out of the fridge. Periods are never mentioned in notifications.

You can also limit previews in your phone’s notification settings.

4. Widgets (iPhone)

On iPhone, home and lock screen widgets read your next and today’s doses from a small file the app keeps on your device. Ringdose has no widgets on Android. Names follow the same lock-screen rules as above. Widgets send nothing anywhere.

5. Photos

If you add a photo of a medication, Ringdose only accesses the single photo you pick from your photo library. A copy is stored inside the app on your device and is never uploaded.

6. Purchases

Ringdose Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details. To check whether you have Pro, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase and subscription status, and basic device information (such as country and app version) needed to validate the purchase. It receives none of your medication or health data. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.

7. Export, sharing and backup files

  • PDF and CSV exports and backup files are created on your device and go only where you choose in the share menu (for example Files, iCloud Drive or email). Once shared, the recipient’s own privacy terms apply.
  • The period log is included in the HRT report only if you choose to include it when exporting.
  • A backup file contains all your Ringdose data, including health information, and is not encrypted by the app. Store and send it carefully. Photos are not included.
  • Restoring a backup replaces everything currently in the app.
  • Milestone images you choose to share show only the milestone, an optional line you write and ringdose.com, never medicine names or health data.
  • Exported files stay in the app’s temporary storage until the next export overwrites them or the system clears them.

8. Phone backups

Ringdose does not run its own cloud backup. If backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Ringdose’s data can be included in your phone backup: iCloud Backup or a computer backup on iPhone, and Android’s backup to your Google account. These backups are controlled by you and governed by Apple’s or Google’s privacy terms. They are also what lets you keep your history when you move to a new phone. If you delete the app without any backup, your Ringdose data is gone.

9. This website

ringdose.com is a static website hosted by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and has no analytics or tracking scripts. Cloudflare may process technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and protect the site.

10. Your rights and deleting your data

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data. Since your Ringdose data lives only on your device, you control it directly:

  • See and export it in the app (Settings → Export).
  • Correct or delete single doses, symptoms, weights, period entries, lab results, effect logs, visits and questions in the app.
  • Delete a medication and all its history from the medication’s screen. Its schedules, logged doses, sites, notes, photo and reminders are removed. (Archiving instead keeps the history.)
  • Delete a profile under Settings → Profiles. All of that profile’s medications, history, symptoms, weights, lab results, period log and visits are removed, and its reminders are cancelled.
  • Delete all data under Settings → Privacy. Everything Ringdose has stored on the phone is erased, all reminders and alarms are cancelled, its notification settings are reset and the app starts over as if newly installed. You are offered to export a backup first.
  • Deleting the app also removes all its data from the phone.

Deletion cannot be undone. Files you exported earlier and copies in your phone backup are not affected; delete those where you saved them. A Ringdose Pro purchase belongs to your App Store or Google Play account and can be restored after deletion.

For purchase data held by Apple, Google or RevenueCat, contact us and we will help. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).

11. Children

Ringdose is not directed at children under 13. A parent or carer may use profiles to manage a child’s medication on their own device.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
