Looking for an alternative?
A Medisafe alternative that’s free to use
Since 1 January 2026, Medisafe requires a paid subscription for users outside the United States. If you’re looking for somewhere new to keep your medications, here’s what Ringdose offers.
Information about Medisafe as of October 2026, from Medisafe’s own public pages (linked below).
What changed at Medisafe
According to Medisafe’s help centre, Medisafe became “a fully paid app for users outside of the United States” on 1 January 2026, at US$4.99 per month or US$39.99 per year. Without a subscription you can still download a report of your history and delete your data (source).

What Ringdose offers
- No account and no sign-in. Your data stays on your phone; a backup file you save yourself takes it to a new phone.
- On iPhone with iOS 26 or later, alarm mode (Ringdose Pro) rings even on silent and in Focus. On Android, reminders use exact alarms.
- A second reminder if a dose isn’t marked, free.
- Time windows such as “lunch, 11:30–13:30” instead of an exact minute.
- No interaction checks or dose advice, by design: Ringdose reminds and records.
Switching to Ringdose
- Write down your medications, strengths and times. Medisafe’s help centre says you can download a report of your history without a subscription.
- In Ringdose, add each medication. Pick its colour and shape so it’s easy to recognise.
- Set a time window for each dose. On iPhone, turn on alarm mode for the ones you can’t miss.
Ringdose is not affiliated with Medisafe. Medisafe is a trademark of its owner. Ringdose reminds and records; it does not give medical advice.
